Mach 1

I remember reading about somebody's comment about driving cars when they first came out that said you would never be able to go faster than thirty miles an hour because you wouldn't be able to breathe.
Charles Elwood "Chuck" Yeager, American Hero, fighter ace, test pilot, and the list goes on and on.  Chuck Yeager was the first man to break the sound barrier on October 14, 1947, flying the Bell X-1, an experimental aircraft.  Mach 2 was broke in 1953 by another pilot, Scott Crossfield, but shortly afterward Chuck Yeager set a new record of Mach 2.44!
